Interventional Radiology Nurse
Handle correspondence, including but not limited to referrals and notifications regarding deceased patients.
Return and document patient phone calls.
Contact patients regarding procedure premedication.
Field staff messages/calls from scheduling office.
Contact appropriate providers to address message, patient or service contacting IR.
Communicate and coordinate with IR schedulers and lead tech for vendor/rep participation with procedure as needed.
Communicate with lead tech for supply ordering.
Complete work/school release forms, FMLA paperwork.
Coordinate care including but not limited to pre-procedure order entry for angiography, CT/US, clinic, and pre-surgical testing for all outpatients.
Enter orders in EPIC for outside referrals.
Review referrals and discuss with provider as needed.
Coordinate care of patients with IVC filters between hematologists, primary care physicians and IR physicians for possible IVC retrieval.
Provide post-procedure education, send prescriptions for flushes, and/or medical supplies as needed.
Post-procedure removal of arterial/venous sheaths and dialysis circuit woggles following procedures.
Upload patient images as needed.
TACE orders to pharmacy.
Communicate with AVS lab team regarding upcoming AVS's as well as final AVS lab reports.
Maintain patient list without a final AVS report and continually update.
Fax final AVS reports to the ordering/referring provider.
Check/order supplies such as MIC-KEY buttons, catheters, ports, drains, stents, etc.
Understand layout of the Angio core for ordering procedure supplies.
Work closely with IR outpatient/inpatient schedulers.
Assist patients with drainage bag exchanges in ER/Prep-Recovery/Waiting area.
Assist patient needs and triage into the IR schedule as same day add-on.
Review CT/US/IR/Clinic schedules to facilitate communication with other teams/outside hospitals.
